Sister Edna Hess, C.PP.S. entered the Sisters of the Precious Blood in 1964. After ministering in schools here in the states for eight years, Sister felt called to minister to the people of God in Santiago, Chile, South America. She began tending to the spiritual lives of Chileans in 1977 and continued until 2003, when she was elected to leadership in her religious community. She served as councilor to the president and was treasurer during the eight years she was back in the United States. It was during this time she was also able to spend more time with family, often going on vacation with them. In 2012, Sr. Edna returned to Chile and the people that she loves and continued to serve in the parish of Our Lady of the Precious Blood in Santiago. In 2019 Sister Edna was elected President of the Sisters of the Precious Blood.

The photo above shows Sister Edna with her nephew Matthew Hess. Matt now works in ministry at the Shrine and can remember his aunt signing him up to receive the Shrine Update while in high School.
