The Shrine has been a special place for Jerry & Rita throughout their lives together starting with their wedding day when they stopped to visit Rita's great Aunt, Sister Paulissa Remaklus who was the Shrine's head Mother at the time. Over the years they made many visits to the Shrine and also attended numerous retreats at the Center. After his retirement, Jerry volunteered at the Shrine for almost 15 years. and was even awarded the Sister Mary Friedburga Jaeger Memorial Award for remarkable volunteer service in 2008.
